About help is here
The COVID-19 pandemic has had a far-reaching impact on our Fulton County communities. Even people who did not contract COVID-19, felt stressed, worried, anxious, and depressed. COVID-19 is still with us today. Cases are rising again, and we are just now beginning to understand the impact the pandemic had on mental, physical, financial, and social health in our communities.
That’s why the Fulton County Department of Behavioral Health & Developmental Disabilities has launched Help is Here, to address health literacy around COVID/Long COVID, at the intersection of mental and behavioral health (while including a focus on the fight against stigmas).
The campaign, funded through a grant from the U.S. Department of Health & Human Services’ Office of Minority Health, includes community events, a Help Is Here Mental Health Mobile Unit, and the Help Is Here Community Engagement HUB where Fulton County residents can find stories from real people, information and resources for maintaining a healthy mind, body and spirit, how to spot mis/disinformation online, and how to request a visit from the Help Is Here Mental Health Mobile Unit in YOUR community, today!
Advancing Health Literacy Survey
The Fulton County Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities has partnered with The Morehouse School of Medicine Prevention Research Center (MSM PRC) to conduct an Advancing Health Literacy Survey.
COVID-19 & MENTAL HEALTH
We know that the health of our bodies is linked to the health of our minds. When we care about our physical health, we do things like exercising, eating well and going to the doctor. Just like we take care of our bodies, we also need to take care of our mental health. But many of us find it hard to talk about our feelings. And we don’t always know when to get help or where to go. The information here is designed to help you learn more about mental health so you can take care of yourself and others.

A way to connect people who are in a crisis to a trained counselor who can address their immediate needs and help connect them to ongoing care.
Mental Health Research
There are still many harmful attitudes and misunderstandings around mental illness, which may make people ignore their mental health, fuel stigma, and make it harder to reach out for help.
